Devonport One Ten by Redman Whiteley Dixon
The One Ten can be ready by 2011

The design referred to as the Devonport One Ten is actually 108m (354ft) LOA and, with six decks, the interior volume is enormous. The owner’s deck is situated above the main deck and is intended as a very private and family oriented area while there are 10 fully fitted guest suites in the forward section plus two prestigious VIP suites and a family saloon. There is also accommodation for a personal staff of 14 and a crew of 29. Situated aft on the bridge deck is a formal dining room that can accommodate up to 33 people at an imposing U-shaped centrepiece dining table. Pools and lounging areas abound.

Bellingham building a new marina at Quepos, Costa Rica

Situated on the spectacular Pacific coastline of Costa Rica at Quepos—about halfway between Golfito and Puntarenas—construction of the country’s newest marina is underway. Marina Pez Vela is scheduled to open later this year and is being built by US marina contractor Bellingham Marine. The new marina will open up thousands of miles of ocean to anglers and, for coastal travelers, is positioned to be one of the region’s premier destination marinas.

Tuscan Sun is available for charter from IYC

International Yacht Collection have added Tuscan Sun and Chevy Toy, ex-Janie, to their charter and management fleet. Tuscan Sun (147.7ft) was built in 2006 by Izar/Navantia and can accommodate 12 guests. She is available in the western Mediterranean this summer at €160,000/wk and $235,000/wk for the winter of 2008/09 in the Caribbean.

J Class: building of replicas calls for introduction of a handicapping system
 The replica of Endeavour II, one of the largest J boats ever built

Following the busy racing schedule of both Ranger and Velsheda during the last few seasons, there has been an explosion of interest in the J Class. With two replicas under construction, and more in the planning stage, the J Class Association (JCA) has commissioned a new handicap system, developed by the Wolfson Unit at Southampton University. The system will be validated from towing tank results from the 1930s, prepared initially for Harold S. Vanderbilt, who went on to commission the build of the 1937 Ranger.

Did we say catamarans? Well, the buzz for months was that Alinghi and BMW Oracle would race in 90ft cats for the 33rd America’s Cup. The latest photos show BMW Oracle training aboard the 60ft trimaran Groupama 2 (above, green hull) while Alinghi’s crew managed to pitchpole a similar boat off Lorient, France, in a 20-knot breeze.

The 122ft (37.2m), 24ft beam aluminum sportfishing yacht Mary P is the first hull built and launched by the Trinity Yachts New Orleans shipyard since the post-Katrina reopening of that facility in July 2006.

Aicon to launch 82 Open this summer
Aicon 82 Open

The new flagship of the Open line, the 82 is the first Aicon yacht to be equipped with surface propellers. These, powered by either twin MTU 16 2000 M91s or CAT C32 Acerts, will produce a maximum speed of 43 knots and a cruising speed of 37.5.
